FG Seeks Resolution with Teesside University Over Nigerian Student Deportation
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the head of NIDCOM, held a virtual meeting with some of the impacted students last Sunday and It was agreed that Ambassador Christian Okeke, a representative of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK, would spearhead a delegation to engage with the university’s administration in hopes of finding a peaceful resolution to the matter.
A Federal Government delegation is set to meet with officials of Teesside University in the United Kingdom to address the alleged “unjust deportation order” of some Nigerian students in the middle of their studies at the institution.
This development was made public in a statement by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) on Wednesday. t would be recalled that on May 22, some students from Nigeria staged a protest following the directives of the university authorities that they leave the UK on the allegation that some of them defaulted in the payment of their school fees.

The NIDCOM chief urged the students to maintain their composure and refrain from taking the law into their own hands, while also appealing to the university to ensure fair treatment of the students.
