FUGA Christian Community Pledges Support for VC's Vision

The Christian Community of Federal University Gashua (FUGA) has pledged its commitment to supporting the administration of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, in advancing the university's vision of academic excellence, peaceful coexistence and inclusive development.
The pledge was made during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor in his office on Monday, 27th July, where members of the community congratulated Professor Geidam on his appointment as the fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university and expressed confidence in his vision to reposition the university for academic excellence, innovation, staff welfare and global competitiveness.
Speaking on behalf of the Christian Community, Professor James Ishaku Dantata described Professor Geidam's emergence as divinely ordained and expressed optimism that his administration would usher in a new era of peace, institutional stability and sustainable development.
According to him, the Christian Community remains committed to promoting peaceful coexistence, ethical conduct, responsible citizenship and harmonious relationships among members of the university, regardless of religious or ethnic background.
Also speaking, the leader of the delegation, Reverend Professor Johnson Sunday Alao, assured the Vice-Chancellor of the community's continued prayers, loyalty and partnership in advancing the university's academic, moral and social values.
The delegation appealed to the university management to consider providing a befitting and permanent Christian worship centre, noting that since the establishment of the university, Christians have been conducting their services in classrooms, lecture theatres and other temporary venues.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, expressed appreciation to the Christian Community for the visit, their prayers and their unwavering support for the university. He described the visit as a reflection of the unity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence that have continued to define the institution.
Professor Geidam reaffirmed his administration's commitment to providing inclusive leadership and ensuring that every member of the university community is treated with fairness, equity and respect, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliation.
Responding to the request for a permanent worship centre, the Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation that the university management would continue to engage relevant stakeholders and address the matter through established administrative procedures in the overall interest of the institution.
He also urged members of the Christian Community to embrace and actively support the university's flagship environmental sustainability initiative, the FUGA Green Code (FGC), adding that the initiative reflects the university's commitment to environmental conservation. He encouraged members of the community to serve as ambassadors by promoting tree planting, environmental cleanliness and the responsible stewardship of natural resources.
