FUL Receives Advanced CCTV Surveillance System as Philanthropist Strengthens Campus Security

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has strengthened its security infrastructure following the donation of a high-tech Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system by philanthropist Hon. Chief Empire Iweha, President General of the Igbo Youth Congress (IYC) and Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor on Surveillance.

The donation is part of Iweha's continued support for the university and is expected to enhance surveillance, improve campus security, and protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure across FUL's campuses.

Presenting the equipment, Iweha described the donation as his contribution toward ensuring the university continues to operate in a safe and secure environment. He said the gesture also reflects his support for the administration of Vice Chancellor Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, whom he described as an outstanding leader.

According to him, the surveillance system is specifically designed for locations with limited or no electricity, making it suitable for deployment across the university's expansive campuses.

He explained that the equipment can be installed anywhere on campus and monitored remotely through mobile phones or a central control station, enabling real-time surveillance and faster security response.

Iweha said his relationship with the university has always been driven by a genuine desire to contribute to its growth.

"I have remained committed to the Federal University Lokoja because I believe in its future. Beyond this donation, I have sponsored scholarships for nine students and supported the university with other materials over the years. This is simply my little contribution to help FUL succeed," he said.

He also called on alumni, corporate organizations, philanthropists, and other well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the university, stressing that sustainable development requires collective responsibility.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the university, Vice Chancellor Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, accompanied by Registrar Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, expressed appreciation to Iweha for his generosity and unwavering commitment to the institution.

Professor Ibileye described the donor as a dependable friend of the university whose consistent contributions have made a significant impact on its development.

"Thank you for coming to our university and for this remarkable support. I also appreciate your continued support for His Excellency, the Governor of Kogi State, who remains our friend and brother. I can attest that you have been one of the generous supporters of the Federal University Lokoja," he said.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the donation came at a time when the university is making major investments in campus security, describing it as a timely intervention.

He added that the value of the donation extends beyond the equipment itself, saying it represents a meaningful investment in the safety and future of the university community.
