The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) and Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) have embarked on a transformative partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This landmark agreement, signed on June 26, 2024, at the NSUK Vice-Chancellor’s office, marks the beginning of a dynamic collaboration between the two institutions.

The MOU is designed to promote local and inter-university cooperation, focusing on staff and student mobility programs, knowledge and equipment sharing, and bolstered research capabilities. This initiative responds to recent calls from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities for enhanced local collaborations.

Professor Samaila Dakyes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Partnerships at FULafia, highlighted the immediate benefits of this collaboration. He noted that FULafia is already experiencing positive outcomes from the partnership, including the recent transfer of an Erasmus+ scholarship opportunity from NSUK to FULafia, thanks to the collaborative arrangement.

Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of NSUK, acknowledged the fruitful results of the partnership, including the scholarship awarded to FULafia’s Nursing student, Ms. Favour Sadiq. This 7 million Naira scholarship will fund her semester in Poland, showcasing the practical benefits of the collaboration.

Dr. K'tso Nghargbu, NSUK’s Director of Linkages and International Cooperation, emphasized the mutual advantages of the MOU, including the potential for enhanced accreditation processes and the sharing of institutional resources.
