The Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) has raised alarm over the recent dramatic increase in electricity bills, which it claims is straining its operational budget.

During an oversight visit by the House of Representatives Committee on University Education, led by Abubakar Fulata, FUL’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Abdulrahaman, urged immediate intervention from the National Assembly and relevant authorities. Abdulrahaman expressed his appreciation for the committee’s visit, which he said highlighted various areas needing improvement.

He emphasized that the surge in electricity costs is a significant concern, and called for government support to alleviate the financial pressure on the university. Abdulrahaman also commended the lawmakers for their efforts and expressed hope that their visit would lead to practical solutions.

Fulata responded by stressing the importance of efficient use of resources and warned against unauthorized spending of internally generated funds. He reminded the university’s management of the National Assembly's exclusive power of appropriation, cautioning against any financial mismanagement.
