FULafia Communities and Directorates Pay Farewell Homage to Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman

As his landmark tenure draws to a close, the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, hosted several delegations for a series of valedictory courtesy visits on Friday, February 6, 2026. 

The visits served as a platform for various university forums and administrative units to express gratitude for the Vice-Chancellor's leadership, which many described as visionary and inclusive. 

Professor Abdul Rahman received representatives from the Calabar Family Forum and the Igala Staff Forum, who commended his commitment to staff welfare and his ability to foster a harmonious, multi-ethnic work environment. These staff groups noted that his "people-centered" approach had created an enabling environment for all members of the university community.

In separate sessions, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed staff from: 

Directorate of Academic Planning: Led by their senior officials, the team highlighted the strategic academic growth and curriculum expansions achieved under his watch.

FULafia Consult Limited: The university's business arm recognized the Vice-Chancellor's efforts in driving institutional sustainability through innovative revenue-generating projects, such as the recently initiated bakery and water factory. 

Professor Abdul Rahman is scheduled to conclude his five-year, non-renewable tenure on February 10, 2026. He will be succeeded by Professor Mohammed Isa Kida, whose five-year term is set to begin on February 11, 2026.
