FULafia Mourns the Loss of Renowned Plant Breeding Scholar, Prof. Alhassan Usman

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) community is in mourning following the passing of Professor Alhassan Usman, a distinguished scholar in plant breeding and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. He succumbed to a protracted illness on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has extended his heartfelt condolences to Prof. Usman's family, colleagues, the Faculty of Agriculture, and the entire university community. The university described Prof. Usman as a devoted staff member who made significant contributions to the institution.

Prof. Usman's burial took place today, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Shabu, Lafia, Nasarawa State, by 8:30 a.m., in accordance with Islamic rites.

As a renowned scholar in plant breeding, Prof. Usman leaves behind a legacy of academic excellence and dedication to his craft. His contributions to the Faculty of Agriculture at FULafia will be deeply missed. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus .
