NSUK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Liman, Leads Push for Expanded ACReSAL Interventions at University
The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has intensified the University’s drive towards environmental sustainability, renewable energy and resilient infrastructure, as she hosted a high-powered delegation of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The strategic engagement, held at the Vice-Chancellor’s office in the Senate Building, provided an opportunity for Professor Liman to showcase the impact of existing ACReSAL interventions at NSUK while presenting a forward-looking blueprint for expanding the partnership to address critical infrastructural and environmental needs of the University.
Leading the delegation was the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources and Chairperson of the State Committee for ACReSAL Intervention Projects, Hon. Dr. Margaret Itake Elayo.
Dr. Elayo commended Professor Liman for her visionary leadership and described the Vice-Chancellor as a dynamic administrator whose commitment to institutional development has created a supportive management structure for the effective implementation of her mandate.
She explained that the delegation’s visit was primarily to discharge its oversight responsibility through the inspection of ACReSAL-funded projects and technological interventions currently operational at the University.

The Commissioner highlighted ACReSAL’s interventions in areas including erosion control, land pollution management and energy development, reaffirming the project’s commitment to supporting sustainable development initiatives in Nasarawa State and at NSUK.
Responding to the delegation, Professor Liman expressed appreciation to Dr. Elayo for her dedication to the environmental and infrastructural development of Nasarawa State.
The Vice-Chancellor, however, used the engagement to look beyond the achievements of existing interventions, presenting a strategic vision for expanding ACReSAL’s partnership with NSUK.
In line with her administration’s commitment to transforming the University into a green, resilient and self-sustaining 21st-century institution, Professor Liman identified critical areas where expanded intervention would have significant impact.
These include:
Solar Power Farm: Establishment of a large-scale solar energy system to provide reliable, clean and sustainable electricity for the University community.
Smart Water Management: Development of an efficient and sustainable water management system to address water scarcity and enhance environmental sanitation across the University.
Human Capital Development: Implementation of targeted capacity-building initiatives for staff and students in environmental resilience, sustainable development and technology-driven agriculture.
The Vice-Chancellor’s proposals underscored her administration’s broader vision of ensuring that NSUK does not merely respond to contemporary environmental challenges but becomes a model institution for climate resilience, renewable energy adoption and sustainable campus development.
Professor Liman also expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for his continuous support and contributions towards the advancement of academic excellence and institutional development in the State.
She equally commended the ACReSAL State Projects Coordinator, Dr. Elias Gyobe Napoleon, for his sustained commitment to projects that contribute to the development of NSUK.
Following the high-level engagement with the Vice-Chancellor, the delegation embarked on a comprehensive tour of selected University facilities to assess the impact of ACReSAL-supported interventions.
Among the facilities inspected were the newly upgraded Geographic Laboratory and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment provided to strengthen the University’s digital, environmental and research capabilities.
The inspection provided an opportunity for the delegation to assess the practical impact of the interventions while further reinforcing the collaborative relationship between ACReSAL and NSUK.
The engagement concluded with a group photograph, symbolising a renewed commitment to strengthening the partnership and advancing Professor Liman’s vision of positioning Nasarawa State University, Keffi, as a sustainable, technologically driven and globally competitive academic institution.
