FULafia Staff Undergo Training on Artificial Intelligence

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has taken a significant step in enhancing the digital literacy of its staff by organizing a two-day training program on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The program, held at the Mallam Adamu Adamu Multi-Purpose Hall and Office Complex, aimed to educate staff on the fundamentals of AI and its applications in academia and administration.

The training was spearheaded by the Centre for Artificial Intelligence, FULafia, and featured expert presentations from renowned academics. Professor Aleruchi Chukwu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs), delivered a paper on "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence: Definitions and Misconceptions." Other presentations included "AI and Human Intelligence: Strengths and Weaknesses" by Dr. Dlama Joseph Zira, Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence, and "Ethics in Artificial Intelligence" and "AI and Management Information Systems" by Dr. Falake.

 

The training program was designed to bridge the knowledge gap among academics and administrative staff who increasingly rely on AI in their work. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, emphasized the importance of AI in modern academia and administration, and commended the Centre for Artificial Intelligence for initiating the training program.

The Head of the Staff Promotion and Productivity Unit (SPPU), Mrs. Becky Kajo, expressed her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for supporting the unit in organizing the training. She encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained in their respective roles.

 

This training program demonstrates FULafia's commitment to enhancing the digital literacy of its staff and promoting the adoption of AI in academia and administration.
