FULokoja Hosts TETFund Board Member, Highlights Fund’s Impact on University Development

The Federal University Lokoja (FULokoja) has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for its sustained interventions in the development of the University, as the TETFund Board Member representing the North Central geopolitical zone, Dr. Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi, led a team of senior officials on a familiarisation visit to the institution on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Dr. Ocholi explained that the visit was not a fact-finding mission but part of his efforts to personally familiarise himself with tertiary institutions across the North Central Zone, understand their challenges and assess the status of projects supported by TETFund.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Provost of the College of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Matthew Ola-Rotimi Ajayi, welcomed the team and expressed the University’s appreciation for TETFund’s contributions to its physical and academic development.

Professor Ajayi said the impact of TETFund interventions was visible across the University, noting that several important facilities had been provided through the Fund’s support.

“Without TETFund, I am not sure this Institution will be what it is,” the Acting Vice-Chancellor said, citing the Senate Building, where the meeting was held, as one of the facilities provided through TETFund intervention.

He said FULokoja valued its partnership with TETFund and expressed the University’s expectation of further interventions that would support its expansion and strengthen its capacity to meet the needs of its growing student population.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation that the University would provide the necessary documents and information on its TETFund-supported projects, including their current status, to enable the Fund to determine appropriate next steps.

Dr. Ocholi, who was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on July 3, 2026, as the TETFund Board Member representing the North Central geopolitical zone, said the familiarisation tour was important in providing him with first-hand knowledge of the institutions within his jurisdiction.

He explained that the exercise would also enable him to identify projects that had been completed and were ready for commissioning, as well as projects whose implementation had experienced delays.

According to him, where projects remain incomplete beyond their expected implementation cycle, it is necessary to establish the circumstances responsible for the delay and ensure that TETFund interventions are completed and put to the purposes for which they were provided.

Dr. Ocholi added that the information gathered from the institutions would be taken up through the appropriate channels to address outstanding issues and strengthen the implementation of TETFund-supported projects.
