The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, has felicitated staff and students of the prestigious Institution, particularly Christian faithfuls, on the joyous occasion of this year’s Christmas, commemorating the historic birth of Jesus Christ, urging them to imbibe His cherished virtues of unconditional love, meekness, compassion, kindness, and goodwill to all men.
In a statement released earlier on the eve of Christmas by the University's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Nwankwo, the Vice-Chancellor extended warm felicitations to members of staff, students, and their esteemed families, thanking them for their continued support and commitment to the progress of the University as well as their resilience in the face of economic challenges that characterized the year.
"I express my gratitude to the entire University Community for your contributions to our shared success in the past year. As we mark this special yuletide season, I extend warm greetings to you and your family members. The holiday season is not just a time of celebration but also a period to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year.
"Our University has witnessed remarkable achievements and academic progress through the collective efforts of management, staff, and students. I commend each one of you for your dedication, hard work, commitment, and resilience even in the face of daunting economic challenges witnessed in the country. By God's grace, my administration will not relent in its efforts at providing quality leadership and creating a better learning environment to achieve our lofty vision of a world-class citadel of learning that we will all be proud of.
"As we look forward to a new year filled with great promises and prospects for our dear University, let us continue to strive for academic excellence, innovation, and a nurturing environment for learning and growth.
"Dear colleagues, in the spirit of Christmas, let us cherish the values of compassion, kindness, and goodwill, and may this festive season bring joy to your hearts and strengthen the bonds of unity within our University Community," the statement read.
The Vice-Chancellor on behalf of Management, therefore, congratulated Christians within and outside the University Community and indeed Nigerians for witnessing another joyous Christmas season, and wished them a memorable celebration and a rewarding new year in advance.
