FUNAAB DVC, Prof. Olukayode Dewunmi Akinyemi, Appointed Vice-Chancellor of Aletheia University

Prof. Olukayode ‘Dewunmi Akinyemi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Aletheia University, a private institution in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

The appointment, confirmed by Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, Ag. Head of FUNAAB’s Directorate of Public Relations, takes effect immediately. Prof. Akinyemi is a distinguished scholar in Solid Earth Physics/Geophysics, currently chairs FUNAAB’s Employability and Benchmarking Committee, and holds fellowships with the Indian Society of Earth Sciences and the Nigerian Institute of Physics. He is also a member of the American Geophysical Union.

Mr. Olajide noted that Prof. Akinyemi’s elevation continues a trend of FUNAAB academics assuming top leadership roles in Nigerian universities. Recent appointments include Prof. Flora Tobolayefa Oluwafemi as Vice-Chancellor of the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko; Prof. Mufutau Olaoye Atayese at the Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji; and Prof. Adekojo Waheed at the British Canadian University, Calabar.
