Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, has urged its newly employed academic staff to strictly adhere to professional ethics as a key to long-term career success.

The directive was delivered by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, through his Deputy, Prof. Ireti Folasade Alao, during an orientation programme organized by the Academic Staff Transition Committee (ASTC), AFUED Chapter, on Tuesday, November 2025.

Prof. Popoola emphasized that understanding and complying with the rules and regulations of the teaching profession is crucial for career longevity. He stated, “One thing is to have a job and skill; the other is to hold onto it. Abiding by professional ethics ensures you remain effective and resilient in your role.” He encouraged staff to use the orientation to familiarize themselves with the University environment and avoid violations that could hinder career progression.

The one-day programme included presentations by five resource persons covering topics such as research and publication, teaching effectiveness, departmental assignments, legal implications, stress management, and professional conduct. Resource persons included Prof. M.O. Ogunboyede, Prof. S.O. Olagunju, Associate Prof. A.B. Ale, Barrister Robert Oluwamayokun Akinkuoye, and Dr. Ibunkunoluwa Eddison Johnson.

Chairman of ASTC, Comrade (Dr.) Ajisafe O.E., highlighted that the orientation aims to sensitize new staff on their roles, responsibilities, and rules of engagement within the University. He praised the Management for creating an enabling environment and assured that the Union would continue contributing to the institution’s growth.

The event, held at the Obongawan Grace Ekong Lecture Theatre, was attended by over 100 newly recruited academic staff, university officials, ASTC members, and students.
