The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), in Kajola Local Government, Oyo State, has scheduled the resumption of its pioneer students for Friday, March 6, 2026.

The announcement follows the university’s inaugural statutory Senate meeting held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, during which the academic roadmap for the institution’s first cohort was ratified.

In a statement released by the Registrar and Secretary to the University Senate, Amuni Mohammed Olayinka, the Senate confirmed that its decision was informed by comprehensive reports on the university’s readiness for students’ resumption.

“The University Senate received reports from the Management and Committee of Deans and Directors on the preparedness of the university towards students’ resumption. Sequel to the consideration of these reports, the Senate took far-reaching decisions to ensure a smooth resumption and student welfare,” the Registrar said.

According to the statement, the 2025/2026 academic calendar includes a fast-paced schedule to align the university with the national academic cycle. Registration for pioneer students will run from March 6 to March 10, followed by an intensive orientation programme from March 11 to March 19. First semester lectures are set to commence on Monday, March 23, 2026, with the landmark matriculation ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The first semester will conclude with examinations in July, with the second semester commencing on August 3, 2026, and the session expected to conclude by November 30, 2026. The 2026/2027 session is tentatively set to begin on December 14.

Addressing student accommodation concerns, the university revealed plans to provide hostel facilities through a Public-Private Partnership model within the host communities. The arrangement will ensure regulated, secure, and reasonably priced accommodation for pioneer students.

The Registrar also confirmed that matriculation numbers will soon be allocated to applicants who have completed their acceptance fee obligations, enabling them to proceed with school fee payments and official registration. Prospective students can still apply through the JAMB portal to pursue programmes at FUNATO.

The Vice-Chancellor and the University Senate congratulated the incoming students, welcoming them as the foundation for the institution’s emerging legacy.
