The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has entered a strategic partnership with GFA Technologies to advance digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development for students and alumni.

The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 5, 2026, facilitated by FUNAAB’s Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS).

The partnership aims to equip the university community with digital competencies, data-driven opportunities, and sustainable pathways into entrepreneurship, aligning with global best practices.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, FUNAAB Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, described the collaboration as timely and impactful. He highlighted the University’s growth from 250 students in 1988 to over 25,000 today and reaffirmed FUNAAB’s commitment to holistic education that prepares graduates for real-world challenges.

Prof. Kehinde emphasized that partnering with GFA Technologies aligns with the University’s vision to foster innovation, relevance, and employability. He further noted FUNAAB’s expansion into technology-driven disciplines, including Mechatronics Engineering and the College of Computing Sciences, which offers specializations in cybersecurity, data science, software engineering, and Information Technology. He added that integrating computing and artificial intelligence into agricultural and biological research has already produced notable patents and innovations.

The Group CEO of GFA Technologies, Mr. Adebola Omololu, outlined the operational framework of the partnership, including the deployment of GFA’s proprietary Digital Innovation Management Platform (DIMP). The platform will offer smart onboarding, customized dashboards, data visualization, and analytics tools to track students’ and alumni’s career interests, job preferences, and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Mr. Omololu explained that the data-driven approach would enhance personalized mentorship, monitor innovation activities, and provide targeted support for aspiring entrepreneurs. The MoU also includes initiatives such as hackathons, networking sessions, webinars, collaborative research projects, and co-developed academic programmes to strengthen a sustainable entrepreneurial culture on campus.

The Director of CENTS, Professor Sakiru Akinbode, alongside immediate past Director, Professor Emily Ayo-John, commended the initiative, expressing appreciation to the University Management and urging prompt implementation to maximize benefits for students and alumni.

The ceremony was attended by Registrar Dr. Titus Adeniyi, University Legal Officer Mrs. Olanrewaju Tanimowo, and representatives of GFA Technologies, including Deputy CEO Mr. Tunji Oke and Product Manager Mr. Temitope Dasho.
