Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka has successfully elected new Deputy Vice-Chancellors for both Academic and Administration portfolios.

The election took place during the 242nd Senate meeting on Wednesday, 25th February 2026, at the Zephaniah Madubuko Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences.

Prof. Alex Chinwuba Asigbo of the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies was elected as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). Prof. Asigbo currently serves as the Director of UNIZIK Commercial Ventures and is a former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, bringing extensive leadership and administrative experience to the role.

Prof. Hilda Ewosiida Osisioma of the Department of Business Administration was elected Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration). Prior to her election, Prof. Osisioma served as Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Coordinating) for three months, demonstrating continuity and familiarity with the administrative portfolio.

These appointments mark a significant step in reinforcing UNIZIK’s leadership team, ensuring strategic oversight and operational excellence across both academic and administrative functions of the University.
