UI Law Students Dominate 2025 BOSAN Scholarship Awards
Three students of the University of Ibadan Faculty of Law have emerged among the five beneficiaries of the 2025 Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholarship, placing the institution at the forefront of the national selection.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Peter O. Olapegba, FNPA, C. Psych., FSSAN, fspsp, made this known while receiving the Dean of the Faculty of Law and the BOSAN scholars during a courtesy visit to the office of the Vice-Chancellor. Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, he described the Faculty of Law as one of the university’s flagship faculties, noting that its students have consistently brought recognition to the institution through outstanding performances at the Nigerian Law School.
The beneficiaries from the University of Ibadan are Tomilayo Ebenezer Oyedeji, Victor Oluwagbemiga Ayoola and Mercy Olaoluwa Olatayo, who emerged successful from a nationwide competition involving students from about 80 faculties of law across Nigerian universities. Professor Olapegba described the outcome as a remarkable achievement and reaffirmed the university’s pride in the students’ accomplishments, adding that the faculty has continued to sustain a culture of excellence despite operational limitations.
He also commended BOSAN for the scholarship initiative, noting that it encourages academic distinction and motivates students to pursue excellence.
The Dean of Law, Professor J. O. A. Akintayo, stated that the achievement reinforces the recognition of the University of Ibadan Faculty of Law in international rankings, including its placement as the best law faculty in Nigeria by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. He explained that the selection process for the scholarship was rigorous, assessing both academic performance and community service involvement.
According to the Dean, Tomilayo Ebenezer Oyedeji serves as Chairman of the Moot and Mock Society, Victor Oluwagbemiga Ayoola is the Chief Justice of the Law Students Society Judiciary, while Mercy Olaoluwa Olatayo is the Speaker of the Law Students Representative Council. He noted that their leadership roles and commitment to community service contributed significantly to their selection.
The BOSAN scholarship award, valued at one million naira each, covers the beneficiaries’ final year studies and sponsorship at the Nigerian Law School. Professor Akintayo described the recognition as further evidence of the quality of graduates produced by the University of Ibadan Faculty of Law.
