Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), marked a milestone in practical education on Thursday, February 5, 2026, with the commissioning of newly manufactured hostel bunk beds, entirely fabricated by students of the Faculty of Engineering at the Gudi Campus.

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), marked a milestone in practical education on Thursday, February 5, 2026, with the commissioning of newly manufactured hostel bunk beds, entirely fabricated by students of the Faculty of Engineering at the Gudi Campus.

The event, showcasing the practical application of the University’s motto, “Knowledge for Development,” was attended by government officials and university management.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Maikano Mohammed Ari, praised the initiative as a triumph for vocational excellence. He highlighted that the project signals the true beginning of research commercialization at NSUK.

“Research commercialization has begun in this corner of the University. We are producing competent and productive graduates who will contribute meaningfully to society through the skills, knowledge, and experience acquired during their training,” Professor Ari said.

Special Guest of Honor, Honourable Commissioner of Education, Dr. John D. W. Mamman, lauded the students’ dedication and ingenuity, emphasizing that their ability to address internal university challenges—such as accommodation needs—demonstrates NSUK’s growing national prominence.

Earlier, the Faculty of Engineering Dean, represented by Deputy Dean Dr. Abdulmumin Zubairu Loko, noted that the commissioning coincides with preparations to graduate the Faculty’s first set of students in the next session. He thanked University management for providing a platform for students to demonstrate their contributions to societal development.

In his vote of thanks, University Registrar, Dr. Bala I. Ahmed II, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Education and Permanent Secretary for their support, congratulated the Faculty of Engineering, and acknowledged all guests present.

The commissioning of the student-fabricated hostel beds concluded with group photographs, highlighting the University’s commitment to integrating practical skills, innovation, and research commercialization into its academic programmes.
