On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the Osun State Branch of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Alumni Association held its inaugural Public Lecture, Scholarship, and Award Program at the Aurora Event Centre in Osogbo, Osun State. The event marked a significant step in the association's commitment to supporting the development of FUTA and empowering indigent students through educational scholarships.

Comrade David Ajala, Chairman of the Osun State Branch, expressed his dedication to serving the university community by giving back to FUTA. He emphasized the importance of kindness and the responsibility to assist those in need, highlighting the scholarship awards' focus on indigent students.

Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji commended the alumni for their initiative and reiterated the university's readiness to collaborate with alumni associations and private investors for FUTA's advancement.

Engineer Adeyemi Bello, President of FUTA Alumni Worldwide, and Professor Ayo Olajuyigbe, Director of the Advancement Centre, praised the Osun state branch for organizing the program and encouraged alumni worldwide to contribute more to the university's growth.

The keynote speaker, Engineer Tunji Light Ariyomo, emphasized the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in driving business scalability and wealth creation, particularly in challenging economic times. He underscored the importance of infrastructure development, digital literacy, and cybersecurity measures for Nigeria to harness ICT's potential fully.
