FUTIA Flags Off TETFund Entrepreneurship Training Series with Bootcamp and Hackathon, Presents Starter Packs to 80 Students
The Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) has commenced activities for its maiden Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Entrepreneurship Programme for students and staff of the institution.

The training series for the current academic session commenced with the 2026 TETFund Bootcamp, themed “From Ideas to Impact,” which was held for students and some staff at the Women War Memorial Centre, Consulate Road, Ikot Abasi, on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The Bootcamp featured various training modules designed to equip participants with practical entrepreneurial and digital skills.
The modules included:

Pep Talk: “From Problems to Profitable Ideas”

“Idea Discovery and Customer Validation”

“Designing the Business Model”

“Building the Brand with Canva”
-
“Building the Ordering Platform with Lovable Mantra”

“Connecting the Digital Business System”
-
“Digital Marketing and Live Launch Preparation”
-
“Product Demonstration”

The programme also featured other inspiring and practical sessions.
Facilitators at the training included the Lead Resource Person and Managing Director of WeBuild Innovation Labs, Mr. Daniel Essien, alongside Mr. Sylvester Ebhonu and Mr. Emmanuel Samuel.
The Bootcamp recorded an attendance of 88 students, who were provided with training materials, souvenirs and startup kits.
Top performers in the hackathon are also expected to receive additional support packages, including free business name registration, six months of Canva subscription, six months of ChatGPT subscription and six months of Lovable subscription.
The Entrepreneurship Programme is scheduled to run from Saturday, August 8, to Saturday, August 15, 2026. It is anchored by WeBuild Innovation Labs and sponsored by TETFund as part of the 2022–2025 Entrepreneurship Intervention for the Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi.
The programme is co-hosted by the FUTIA Directorate of Entrepreneurship, led by Engr. Dr. Bassey Okon.
The event was well attended by FUTIA students, led by the Students’ Representatives Council (SRC).

The 1st FUTIA Entrepreneurship Development Series is aimed at instilling an entrepreneurial mindset among students, boosting entrepreneurial skills, optimising talents, aligning students’ passions with profitable ventures, and upscaling innovation, research and technological ideas to drive national transformation and development.
The programme is also expected to strengthen students’ capacity to convert ideas into viable ventures and develop practical solutions to societal and economic challenges.
