FUTIA Vice-Chancellor Honored with NUGA Gold Medal

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Professor Leo Daniel, has been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal by the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) in recognition of the University’s outstanding participation at the 27th NUGA Games.

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Professor Leo Daniel, has been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal by the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) in recognition of the University’s outstanding participation at the 27th NUGA Games.

The medal was presented on Thursday, 8 January 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Takeoff Campus, by Dr. Columbus Udofot, Chairman of the FUTIA Sports Committee, on behalf of the NUGA Council. Also honored alongside Professor Daniel were Dr. Columbus Udofot and University Sports Coach, Uboho Uku, acknowledging their leadership and contributions to the University’s sports achievements.

The 27th edition of the NUGA Games was held in Jos, Plateau State, from 5 to 16 November 2025, where FUTIA contingents, comprising staff and students, participated actively under the guidance of the Sports Committee Chairman and Coach Uku.

The award highlights FUTIA’s commitment to excellence in sports and recognizes the collaborative efforts of its leadership, staff, and student-athletes in promoting university sports on the national stage.
