FUT Minna and NSE Induct 732 Engineering Graduates into Professional Membership
The Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, in strategic collaboration with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), has formally inducted 732 engineering graduates into the professional fold of the Society.
The 3rd Graduates Membership Induction Programme, held under the theme “The Ethics of Engineering Profession,” took place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Suleiman Kumo Convocation Square on the university's main campus in Gidan Kwano.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Engr. Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, challenged the new inductees to evolve into innovative problem-solvers. The induction follows the institution's 34th Convocation Ceremony, where FUT Minna graduated a total of 5,297 students, including 39 First Class graduates from its various engineering schools.
Dignitaries from key regulatory and professional bodies emphasized the necessity of character and continuous learning:
COREN Advocacy: Representing the President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Engr. Prof. Sadiq Z. Abubakar, Engr. Prof. O. A. U. Uche highlighted nationwide efforts to bolster quality assurance in engineering education.
Professionalism: Engr. Prof. Abdulkarim Nasir, representing the 35th NSE President Engr. Ali Rabiu, urged the graduates to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Call to Service: The Chairman of the NSE Niger State Branch, Dr. A. B. Gambo, characterized the induction as a lifelong commitment to societal service.
The ceremony underscored FUT Minna's growing reputation as a hub for technical excellence. The university was recently ranked as the 7th best university in Nigeria and the top-ranked specialized university in the country according to the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
During the event, Engr. Mustapha Ibrahim delivered a keynote lecture on engineering ethics, while officials from COREN and NSE administered the professional induction oath to the 2025 engineering graduands.
