KASU Honours Northern Nigeria’s First Pharmacist with Commissioning of Adamu Dikko Pharmacy Garden

Kaduna State University (KASU) has officially commissioned the Pharm. Adamu Dikko Pharmacy Garden, a landmark project at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences dedicated to the memory of Northern Nigeria’s pioneer pharmacist.

The ceremony, held on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, was performed by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Education and Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of KASU, Emeritus Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo. The event drew a distinguished audience, including the Dikko family, university management, and leaders of various professional pharmaceutical bodies.

In a moving tribute, the Wakilin Maganin Zazzau, Prof. Ahmed Tijjani Mora, OON, mni, hailed the late Pharm. Adamu Dikko as a trailblazer whose career set the gold standard for pharmaceutical practice and healthcare delivery in the region. He emphasized that the garden is not merely a physical space but a symbol of the "excellence and inspiration" the late pharmacist represented.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, noted that the project is a key component of KASU’s broader strategic vision. He highlighted two primary roles for the new facility:

Academic Inspiration: Serving as a historical touchstone for pharmacy students.

Representing the Dikko family, Engr. Ahmad Adamu Dikko expressed profound gratitude to the University Management for immortalizing their patriarch. He commended the stakeholders who ensured the project moved from conception to completion, fostering a lasting bond between the university and the pharmacy profession.

The commissioning marks another step in KASU’s ongoing efforts to enhance its main campus infrastructure while celebrating indigenous icons of academic and professional history.
