Gombe State University Hosts Professor Abdullahi Mahadi Annual Memorial Lecture
Gombe State University (GSU) recently hosted the Second Professor Abdullahi Mahadi Annual Memorial Lecture in honor of the late distinguished scholar, administrator, and pioneer Vice-Chancellor of GSU.
The event, held at the Haruna Kadir Rasheed Hall, attracted notable academics, dignitaries, and members of the university community. Renowned Professor Toyin Falola of the University of Texas at Austin, USA, delivered the lecture, titled "Leadership Values for Nigeria's Transformation."
Professor Falola praised the late Professor Abdullahi Mahadi as a visionary leader whose legacy of excellence and service continues to inspire future generations. The Chairman of the GSU Ceremonies Committee, Professor Muhammed Gurama Dukku, provided an overview of the Mahadi Memorial Lecture, outlining its purpose and objectives.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of GSU, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, expressed gratitude to Professor Falola for delivering the lecture. Representing the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, described the late Professor Mahadi as an extraordinary academic and leader.
The Mahadi family announced a donation to support students with disabilities at the university, reflecting the late professor's compassionate spirit. The event was a testament to the university's commitment to celebrating excellence and preserving the legacy of Professor Mahadi.
