On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Hon. Abel Nansak Nimchak, the Member representing Langtang North-North Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, successfully concluded his highly impactful holiday lesson program. The program, held at Government Model Secondary School Langtang and Government Secondary School Zamko, ended with an impressive prize-giving ceremony and the awarding of scholarships to top-performing students from JSS1 to SS3, covering a full academic year.

In his address at the Langtang center, Hon. Nimchak expressed his excitement about the students' dedication and enthusiasm throughout the program. "I am thrilled to see the enthusiasm and dedication of our students," he said. He emphasized that the initiative is part of his ongoing commitment to education and youth empowerment, urging the students to continue prioritizing their education and striving for excellence.

The program, aimed at enhancing students' academic performance during their holidays, was a remarkable opportunity for the youth in the constituency. Hon. The event featured a keynote address from Dr. Fabong Jemchang Yildam, the former Director General of PLASCHEMA, who highlighted the vital role of education in shaping a child’s future. "The education of a child is a collective responsibility," Dr. Yildam remarked, calling on parents, teachers, and community leaders to work together to provide quality education and help children reach their full potential. He encouraged students to have the courage and confidence needed to achieve greatness in life.

One of the highlights of the event was the scholarship awards, which recognized the best-performing students across both centers. Scholarships were presented to students who excelled academically, ensuring they are financially supported for the next academic year.

Notable personalities delivered goodwill messages, including the Plateau State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Ubandoma Joshua Laven, represented by his Personal Assistant, Hon. Habila Johnson Buttur. They praised Hon. Nimchak for his visionary leadership and dedication to youth development through education. Hon. Laven commended the initiative, which aligns with the goals of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, and thanked Hon. Nimchak for his contributions to societal growth.

Other notable attendees included the NUT Chairman, the Education Secretary, and traditional rulers such as HRH Ponzhi Timmwat, District Head of Langtang, and HRH Daniel Bongtur, Maidaki Langtang and District Head of Shishiri. The traditional rulers lauded Hon. Nimchak for bridging the gap between the rich and poor, allowing all students an equal chance at success. HRH Ponzhi Timmwat urged the students to be good ambassadors of their communities, while HRH Bongtur encouraged them to represent their society positively.

The President of Nimbar Development Association (NDA), Hon. Danladi Dashe, thanked Hon. Nimchak for providing opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to excel academically. He acknowledged the role the holiday lessons played in filling the gap created during regular school hours, helping students stay focused on their studies.

The National President of the Tarok Progressive Youth Association (TAPYA), Mr. Miri Timnan Nyantau (MTN), echoed these sentiments, stating that "to educate a child is to empower a nation." Nyantau also made a generous donation of 20 JAMB forms to students, with 10 forms each distributed at both centers.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from HRH Maidaki Langtang, who expressed his gratitude to Hon. Nimchak for his unwavering commitment to education. He praised the lawmaker’s efforts in empowering young minds and ensuring that education remains a priority in the constituency.
