Approval has been given to Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Rumuolumeni Port-Harcourt Rivers State by the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara GSSRS to hold her Convocation Ceremony for the year 2024.

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Announces Convocation Ceremony

Approval has been given to Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Rumuolumeni Port-Harcourt Rivers State by the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara GSSRS to hold her Convocation Ceremony for the year 2024.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University and Chairman of Senate Professor Okechuku Onuchuku disclosed this during the statutory Senate Meeting which held on Wednesday February 28, 2024 at the Postgraduate Hall of the ivory tower. He informed the house that Friday April 26th Convocation Ceremony would be for undergraduates while that of April 27th would be for Postgraduate Students.

Professor Onuchuku expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of the State for reconstituting the Governing Council with Chief (Barrister) Adokiye Amiesimaka CON, DSSRS as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University. Recall that the Governor through the Secretary to the State Government Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo had in a letter dated February 26, 2024 appointed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman alongside six others namely Dr Iboh Okidim, Professor Jason Osai, Professor Ijeoma F.V. Akpu, Dr Akabue Godson Ugochukwu, Mrs Mmeme Gogo-Adiari and Hon. Dominic Sata as Members.

Based on the above appointment, the Chairman of Senate called for election of four Senate Members who would form part of the eleventh Governing Council of the institution and the following persons were elected.

1. Professor Isaac Ogundu, Head of Ndele Campus and Dean Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education .
2. Professor Beatrice Awortu, Director General Studies Unit and of Department of History and Diplomatic Studies
3. Professor Ozioma Ekpete, Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences and
4. Professor Livinus Ogbonda, Dean, Faculty of Education. The election of representatives for Congregation, Convocation and Alumni on the Council will be on a later date.

The Chairman of Senate also introduced Professor Kingsley Gbeke Kalagbor as the new Dean of Faculty of Management Sciences to Members of Senate.
Senate also approved Saturday March 16th, 2024 as Matriculation date for fresh students.
