Joy Osesanmi Shatters Records at OAU with Historic First-Class in Geology

Joy Osesanmi has etched her name into the history books of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) by graduating with a First-Class degree in Geology, achieving a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.81—the highest ever recorded in the Department of Geology and Geophysics. 

Osesanmi’s academic feat is particularly significant as she also became the first student in over a decade to secure a First-Class in Applied Geophysics. Her remarkable performance included over 50 "A" grades and multiple perfect 5.0 GPA semesters, culminating in seven prestigious awards during the university’s convocation ceremony.

Her journey to the top was defined by resilience. After narrowly missing a First-Class standing in her first year, she intensified her efforts, eventually surpassing all previous department records.
