KHAIRUN Management Pays Courtesy Visit to Emir of Dutse
The Management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, on Thursday, 3rd September 2026, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Muhammad Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, at his palace in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between KHAIRUN and the traditional institution, formally bringing the University closer to the Emirate, and seeking the Emir’s blessings, guidance and support for the continued growth and development of the university.
Speaking during the visit, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for making the long planned visit a reality. He said the visit was an important opportunity for the university to pay its respects to His Royal Highness, introduce KHAIRUN more closely to the Emirate and seek his wise counsel and blessings.
The Vice-Chancellor also gave a brief overview of the history and development of KHAIRUN, highlighting its establishment and the vision behind the institution. He noted that the university has continued to attract students from across the region, including Jigawa State, with almost one hundred students from the State currently enrolled at KHAIRUN. He explained that while some of the students are beneficiaries of scholarships, others are pursuing their studies through personal sponsorship.

Prof. Garba expressed appreciation to the Emir for granting him and his delegation the opportunity to pay the visit, describing the time accorded them by His Royal Highness as highly valuable. He further assured the Emir of KHAIRUN’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to the educational development of the region.
Responding, the Emir of Dutse, His Royal Highness Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Sanusi, expressed delight at the visit and warmly welcomed the KHAIRUN delegation to the Emirate.
The Emir observed that although the visit had come later than expected, he understood the demanding responsibilities and busy schedule of the Vice-Chancellor. He therefore expressed his appreciation for the effort made by the university management to finally undertake the visit.
His Royal Highness described KHAIRUN as “theirs” and assured the university of his full support, noting that the institution represents an important part of the enduring legacy of the late father, Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu. He pledged that the Emirate would do everything within its capacity to support the university and contribute to its continued progress.
The Emir also fondly recalled his personal encounters with the late Khalifa, particularly his visits to the late Sheikh’s residence for Qur’anic recitation. He prayed for the repose of the soul of Khalifa and prayed Almighty Allah to continue to bless his legacy and grant KHAIRUN sustained growth, success and impact.
His Royal Highness further commended the university management for the visit and assured the delegation of his continued support and goodwill. He concluded by thanking the Vice-Chancellor and members of his delegation for the visit and prayed for their safe return to Kano.
The courtesy visit marked an important step towards deepening the relationship between KHAIRUN and the Dutse Emirate, while further reinforcing the shared commitment to education, community development and the preservation of the legacy of the late Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu.
