Kogi Poly Rector Inspects Campus Facilities; Task Staff and Students on Collective Responsibility

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salihu Sanusi Avidime, on Monday, 20th April, 2026, conducted a comprehensive inspection of key departments, facilities, and service units across the institution’s main campus.

‎The exercise forms part of the Rector’s deliberate efforts to ensure optimal working conditions for staff, a conducive learning environment for students, and enhanced security of the Polytechnic community under the supervision of the Chief Security Officer, SP Audu Adams (Rtd).

‎The inspection commenced with a brief stop at the ICT Directorate, where the Rector assessed the ongoing JAMB mop-up examination. He expressed satisfaction with the level of coordination while emphasizing the need to sustain integrity, efficiency, and adherence to examination standards. He also commended the ITRC Ag. Coordinator, Engr. Abu Isah Okikiri, for his expertise and composure in handling such a demanding task.

‎The Rector then proceeded to the School of Environmental Studies, where the Dean, Surv. Dr. Guma Edward Pishikeni led him to the departments of Urban and Regional Planning and Architectural Technology, engaging staff on academic and administrative delivery, as well as infrastructural needs.

‎In continuation of the tour, the Rector undertook an extensive facilities inspection, beginning with the perimeter fencing across the institution as part of efforts to strengthen security architecture. He also visited several classrooms, where he charged both staff and students to imbibe a culture of collective responsibility in the maintenance and preservation of institutional facilities.

‎At the School of Management Studies, the Rector inspected the departments of Public Administration, Accountancy, Business Administration, Library and Information Science, and Office Technology and Management. The visit provided an opportunity for the Dean, Dr. Mrs. Attah Haruna, and the Heads of the Departments to interact with him individually at different times, and quite coincidentally, they commended the Rector for his piety, administrative sagacity and enviable mannerism; this recurring characterization, expressed independently across the departments, highlighted a shared perception of his calm disposition, fairness, and thoughtful leadership, which has continued to inspire staff confidence.

‎Beyond these commendations, the Dean and Heads of Departments also presented issues and challenges peculiar to their respective departments, with the Rector assuring them of prompt attention and necessary interventions.

‎The inspection tour concluded at the School of General and Communication Studies, where the Rector inspected office spaces in the school’s main building and the Department of Mass Communication, respectively. He commended the Dean, Mrs. Awodi Mamenoka Martina, and the Head of Department, Mr. Tairu Momoh, for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, commendable organization, and student discipline. The leadership of the School also presented their concerns, to which the Rector responded with a commitment to swift and effective action.

‎The exercise underscores the Rector’s proactive leadership style and unwavering commitment to institutional excellence, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across all facets of the Polytechnic.
