LASU and UNILAG Receive Support from China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) for 11th FASU Games

In preparation for the upcoming 11th FASU Games, Lagos State University (LASU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have secured crucial support from the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).

In preparation for the upcoming 11th FASU Games, Lagos State University (LASU) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have secured crucial support from the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC). The games, themed “LAGOS 2024: Unite, Compete, Excel,” are set to take place from Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 29.

The Vice Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, reached out to CCECC for assistance through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. On Monday, August 19, Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Omotunde Boyo met with CCECC representatives to discuss support for the event.

During the meeting, Professor Boyo highlighted the importance of CCECC’s involvement. The CCECC team, led by Project Manager Haydan Teng, expressed admiration for LASU’s efforts in establishing itself as a leading institution in West Africa. In response, they presented a proposal for installing solar power generation systems at the university.

“We appreciate the collaboration and effort put in by LASU, and we are pleased to support the university in hosting the 11th FASU Games,” Teng stated.

The CCECC delegation included PR Manager Pillar Cni, Tang Teh, Engineer Huang Dan, and Engineer Adeshina. Professor Boyo expressed gratitude for their support, emphasizing the university’s commitment to delivering a successful and memorable event.

The meeting also saw contributions from LASU management members, including Deputy Director of Works & Physical Planning, Engineer (Dr) W. Odukaiye; Chief Technical Officer Engineer Alfred Olushola Dairo; Deputy Registrar in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Dr. Lateef Shekoni; and Deputy Registrar/Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Lateef Salami. Acting Registrar/Deputy Registrar for Academic Staff Establishment, Mr. Samuel Otesanya, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the support from CCECC.

This partnership marks a significant step in the preparations for the 11th FASU Games, underscoring both LASU’s and UNILAG’s dedication to hosting a premier regional sporting event.
