The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, led a delegation of University Management on Thursday, 19th February 2026, to formally pay homage to the institution’s newly appointed Chancellor, HRM Oba Dr Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, at his palace in Ilara Epe.

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, led a delegation of University Management on Thursday, 19th February 2026, to formally pay homage to the institution’s newly appointed Chancellor, HRM Oba Dr Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, at his palace in Ilara Epe.

Oba Ogunsanwo, the 6th Chancellor of LASU, was appointed by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, following the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past Chancellor, Prof. Gbolahan Elias.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello praised the monarch for his distinguished royal heritage and his commitment to scholarship, leadership, and community service. She described him as a bridge between tradition and innovation, emphasizing that his guidance would strengthen the moral fabric of LASU while inspiring students to pursue excellence in both character and academics.

In his response, Oba Ogunsanwo expressed gratitude for the appointment, acknowledging his ties to LASU where he earned a Master’s degree in 1995 and is currently enrolled in a PhD in Business Administration. He pledged to serve as a father figure to the University and to leverage his experience and networks to advance its development, including exploring collaborations in artificial intelligence and attracting support from well-meaning Nigerians.

The monarch was accompanied by his wife, Olori Bolanle Ogunsanwo, as well as other traditional rulers and members of the Alara-in-Council and Baale-in-Council of Ilara.

The LASU Management team included the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Prof. Oseni Afisi (Academics) and Prof. Oluwatoyin Enikuomehin (Administration); the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Fanu; the Bursar, Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka; and the University Librarian, Dr. Olawunmi Makinde, alongside senior administrative and support staff.

The official investiture of Oba Ogunsanwo as Chancellor is scheduled for a later date to be announced.
