LASU Queens Receive Warm Welcome After Representing Africa at FISU World University Games

The Lagos State University (LASU) female football team, the LASU Queens, has returned to a warm welcome at the university's main campus in Ojo after representing Africa at the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) World University Games in Dalian, China.

The team was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, at her office on October 3, 2025. Despite initial challenges, the team competed in specially arranged matches, gaining invaluable experience and honing their skills over the two-week duration of the competition.

The team's success has attracted multiple invitations for future competitions, underscoring LASU's growing prominence in African sports. The Vice-Chancellor praised the team's efforts and urged the students to leverage the experiences gained from the global stage.

The university management and senior officials attended the meeting, including Professor Simeon Dosunmu, Chairman of the LASU Sports Council, and Mr. Olatunde Owoyemi, Deputy Director of Sports. The team captain, Folashade Ekun, and the Judo Coach, Coach Nusa Ihaza, also joined the delegation.
