LASU Vice-Chancellor Hails Outgoing DVC, Prof. Boyo, Describes Her as “God’s Gift to My Administration”

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Adenike Omotunde Boyo, describing her as “God’s gift to my administration.”

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Adenike Omotunde Boyo, describing her as “God’s gift to my administration.”

In a heartfelt message released to mark the end of Professor Boyo’s tenure, Professor Olatunji-Bello reflected on their long-standing professional and personal relationship, acknowledging Boyo’s immense contributions to the growth and stability of the University.

“You have been far more than my Deputy; you have been my right hand, my co-labourer, my confidant, and my friend,” the Vice-Chancellor wrote. “There were many days when I had to be away from the University, and I could rest easy because I knew that, with you in charge, Lagos State University was in safe hands.”

Professor Olatunji-Bello praised Professor Boyo’s leadership qualities, describing her as a calm, intelligent, and dependable administrator who played a pivotal role in every major decision of the current management. “You have been part of every strategic move and every turning point of this administration. You think ahead, understand the pulse of the institution, and always balance firmness with kindness,” she noted.

Recalling their professional journey, the Vice-Chancellor recounted how she first observed Professor Boyo’s brilliance and dedication while serving as Acting Vice-Chancellor, when Boyo was the Assistant Director of the LASU Foundation (JUPEB) Programme. Their partnership deepened years later at the Lagos State University Directorate of Advancement (LASUDA), where Professor Boyo served as her Deputy.

“When the time came for me to contest for the Vice-Chancellorship, you didn’t just support me from the sidelines—you were at the forefront,” Professor Olatunji-Bello wrote. “You organised, strategised, encouraged, and mobilised with such faith that even in moments of uncertainty, you gave me hope.”

She further commended Professor Boyo’s steady leadership since her emergence as the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor in 2021, noting that the outgoing DVC had been “a strong pillar of this administration, a thoughtful voice in deliberations, and a compassionate heart that connects with staff and students alike.”

“Professor Boyo makes leadership feel lighter,” she added. “She knows when to offer wise counsel, when to challenge my thinking, and when to simply share a word of encouragement.”

Concluding her message, Professor Olatunji-Bello offered prayers and good wishes to her outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellor, expressing confidence that her legacy will endure at LASU.

“I want you to know how deeply I value you, not just for your competence and loyalty, but for your heart,” she wrote. “You have given so much to this administration and to LASU. I pray that as you move forward, God will reward you for your faithfulness and service. Our story is far from over. We started this journey together, and by the grace of God, we will finish well together.”

The Vice-Chancellor’s message concluded with gratitude: “Thank you, Professor Adenike Boyo, for walking this path with me. You are indeed one of God’s greatest gifts to me and to Lagos State University.”
