LASU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Honoured Alongside Tunji Bello, Bishop Kukah, and Other Eminent Nigerians by UI Alumni Association Worldwide

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, was among distinguished Nigerians recognised by the University of Ibadan Alumni Association Worldwide for outstanding contributions to society and professional excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, was among distinguished Nigerians recognised by the University of Ibadan Alumni Association Worldwide for outstanding contributions to society and professional excellence.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess & Suites, Abuja.

Professor Olatunji-Bello received the Worthy Ambassador Award, sharing the honour with Ryan Hon. Pascal Adigwe, Engr. Abraham Oshadami, and Rt Hon. Jerry Alagbaoso. A proud 1985 graduate of the University of Ibadan, she was recognised for her exceptional leadership in tertiary education, her advocacy for the girl child, and her efforts in shaping lives and promoting academic excellence.

Her husband, Hon. Tunji Bello, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), received the Meritorious Service Award for his distinguished public service and also led the FCCPC to win the Corporate Excellence Award.

Other eminent honourees included the Vice-President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohammed Juldeh Jalloh; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede; and the Chairman of UBA Board of Directors, Ambassador Joe Keshi.

The event was chaired by His Eminence, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’Ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, who congratulated the awardees for their exemplary contributions and urged them to continue fostering national development and addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

Professor Olatunji-Bello dedicated her award to LASU staff and students, reaffirming her commitment to institutional excellence and serving as a role model for young girls across Nigeria. She attended the event accompanied by members of the LASU management team.
