LASU’s Best Graduating Law Student, Toheeb Omotayo Alimi, Wins Prestigious BOSAN Scholarship Award

Toheeb Omotayo Alimi, the best graduating student of the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University (LASU), for the 2024/2025 academic session, has emerged as a recipient of the 2025 Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholarship Award, valued at one million naira (₦1,000,000).

Toheeb Omotayo Alimi, the best graduating student of the Faculty of Law, Lagos State University (LASU), for the 2024/2025 academic session, has emerged as a recipient of the 2025 Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN) Scholarship Award, valued at one million naira (₦1,000,000).

The BOSAN Scholarship, instituted by the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, is part of a national initiative designed to strengthen standards in legal education and professional practice across the country. The programme targets outstanding law students at the university and Nigerian Law School levels, with emphasis on academic excellence, discipline, character, and professional integrity.

Following a competitive national selection process, Alimi was named among the successful awardees for 2025, placing him among a select group of emerging legal scholars recognised for exceptional academic performance and promise within the Nigerian legal profession.

According to the official notification, the scholarship will be disbursed in two phases, with ₦500,000 payable during his final year at the university and the remaining ₦500,000 to be released during his attendance at the Nigerian Law School.

Beyond its financial value, the BOSAN Scholarship carries considerable professional recognition, as beneficiaries are formally designated BOSAN Scholars, a distinction acknowledged within universities, the Nigerian Law School, and the broader legal community.

The formal presentation of the award is scheduled to hold at the 50th Anniversary Dinner marking the Conferment of the Rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria on Saturday, 7 February 2026, at Harbour Point, 4 Wilmot Point Road, off Ahmadu Bello Road, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

BOSAN maintains strict standards for beneficiaries, noting that failure to sustain required academic performance, conduct, or character expectations may result in the withdrawal of the award.

The recognition of Alimi further underscores Lagos State University’s continued commitment to producing highly competent and ethically grounded legal professionals, while also reflecting ongoing efforts within the Nigerian legal community to invest in the development of a new generation of lawyers defined by excellence and service.

The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, congratulated Alimi on the achievement and wished him continued success in his legal career.
