In a bid to enhance technological innovation and equip students with essential digital skills, the Department of Cyber Security and Information Technology at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) recently organized a virtual expert session on artificial intelligence (AI) and software development.

The session, aimed at educating students and faculty on emerging technologies, was led by Prof. (Dr.) Pastor Reglos Arguelles, Director of the Research and Publication Office at the University of Batangas, Philippines. His lecture provided an in-depth exploration of the software development lifecycle, shedding light on critical processes and best practices in the field.

Prof. Arguelles extensively discussed four key software development methodologies: Agile Development Method, DevOps, Waterfall, and Rapid Application Development (RAD). He emphasized their importance in ensuring efficiency, flexibility, and scalability in software engineering. While acknowledging the transformative potential of AI in software development, he cautioned against over-dependence on AI tools without human oversight, warning that blind reliance on automation could pose security and quality risks if not properly managed.
