NAKSS BUK Chapter Applauds Kano State Government for Supporting Indigent Students

The Bayero University Kano (BUK) Chapter of the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS) extends its heartfelt commendation to the Kano State Government for its exemplary support of indigent students. This commendation comes on the heels of the government's remarkable initiative to fully cover the registration fees of affected students, reflecting a steadfast commitment to enhancing the educational landscape within the state.

In recent times, Federal Government-owned universities, including BUK, witnessed a substantial increase in registration fees, causing understandable apprehension among students and their families. Faced with the daunting prospect of shouldering the burden of these exorbitant fee hikes, a significant portion of the student population was on the verge of discontinuing their education.

In a decisive and timely intervention, the Kano State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf, took swift action to address this issue by settling the outstanding registration fees for Kano indigent students. This proactive approach has not only alleviated the financial strain on these students but has also set a significant precedent.

NAKSS BUK Chapter President, Comrd. Muntaqa Shu'aibu, expressed the union's profound appreciation for the government's efforts in reducing registration fees by 50% for students attending Kano State-owned tertiary institutions. This reduction not only makes education more accessible but also underscores the government's dedication to prioritizing the welfare of its students.

Furthermore, NAKSS BUK Chapter respectfully implores the compassionate administration of Abba Kabir Yusuf to consider offering palliative support in the form of scholarships to mitigate the economic hardships currently affecting students, particularly amid these challenging times marked by inflation.

The Kano State Government's unwavering commitment to education and its proactive measures to support indigent students serve as a shining example of leadership in Nigeria, and it stands as a beacon of hope for countless young minds aspiring to pursue higher education.
