Lucky Emonefe, the newly elected president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has called on President Bola Tinubu to approve a national annual bursary of N200,000 for all Nigerian students. Speaking at his first news conference in Abuja, Emonefe emphasized that the fund would serve as a necessary relief amid the economic challenges resulting from the overdue economic reforms of the Tinubu administration.

In addition to the proposed bursary, Emonefe commended the upcoming student loans scheme set to launch in January 2024 and expressed the NANS's interest in actively participating in the monitoring and supervision of the scheme to ensure adherence to its terms and goals.

The newly elected NANS Senate President, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, affirmed the fairness of the election, praising security agencies for upholding the students' will. He highlighted that the election outcome represents the voice of the majority.
