Nasarawa State University Senate Approves Third Semester Lectures and Examination

The Senate of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, convened for its 122nd Regular Meeting on September 26, 2024, where it deliberated on the introduction of a Third Semester for eligible students. The Senate approved the following criteria for student eligibility:

1. Students with First and Second Semester carryover courses not exceeding 24 credit units.

2. Students who began examinations in a semester but could not continue due to illness or other similar conditions.

3. Students who missed examinations in a semester.

4. Cases of late admission resulting in missed examinations.

Eligible students are required to pay N20,000 per course for the Third Semester.

The commencement date for the Third Semester is scheduled to be after the Second Semester examinations and before the resumption of the First Semester of the following academic session. The proposed time-table outlines a maximum duration of eight weeks for the Third Semester, which includes six weeks for lectures split into three weeks each for the First and Second Semesters, followed by two weeks for examinations.

The specific dates for the academic activities are as follows:

- First Semester Lectures:October 14 - November 1, 2024

- Examinations: November 25 - December 6, 2024

It is important to note that participation in the Third Semester is optional and not compulsory for students. 

This decision aims to provide additional academic opportunities for students to catch up on their studies and improve their academic standing.
