NASU-FUNAAB Holds By-Election, Charges Members on Unity and Service
The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB Branch, has conducted a by-election to fill two vacant positions in its executive council.
The election, held on Tuesday, September 9, 2026, was described by the Branch leadership as an important step towards strengthening the Union’s administration, ensuring effective representation, and sustaining continuity in leadership.
Addressing members shortly before voting commenced, the Branch Chairman, Comrade Samson Edivri, commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, for providing a peaceful and enabling environment for union activities within the University.
He also expressed appreciation to the national and state leadership of NASU for their continued support, guidance, and commitment to the growth and development of the Union.
Comrade Edivri urged members to vote in accordance with the rules guiding the election, stressing that members should place the Union's unity and collective interest above personal differences.

He further called on members to respect the outcome of the exercise, noting that leadership was fundamentally about service, responsibility, and commitment to the welfare of members.
The Chairman urged members to give their full support to the newly elected executives and work collectively to promote peace, fairness, transparency, and mutual respect within the Union.
Earlier, the Union's top leadership had paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor to formally notify him of the planned election.
The Electoral Officer, Comrade Mrs. Bidemi Alafia-Tayo, also urged members to accept the outcome of the election and uphold the principles of fairness and unity throughout the process.
At the end of the voting, Mr. Festus Dada and Mrs. Adeboye Adeola emerged as winners of the Ex-Officio position.
