The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi has been awarded as the third-best University in the country in the Ideas Pitching Segment Festival of Big Ideas and Innovation.

The award is in recognition of the university’s Digital Innovation and Creativity project, Nigerian Native App Development Engine (NADE) initiated by a 500-level student of the Computer Science Education department in the University, Sa’idu Aliyu.

To this end, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has honored the university with a civic responsibility recognition award.

Presenting the award to the Vice-Chancellor of the University on Thursday, Dean Students of Affairs, Professor Usman Sarki Abdullahi said a team of four students of the university came up with the NADE innovation, which seeks to simplify the complexity of Java, Python, and other programming languages for ease development of applications.

He explained that the ATBU contingent at the competition was sponsored by the Students Union Government (SUG) and encouraged the entire students of the University to come up with viable Ideas to offer their contributions towards solving national and global challenges.

Responding, ATBU Vice-Chancellor, Professor, Mohammed Abdulaziz commended the students for the innovation, promising to give them all the necessary support.

He said doors of the management of the University remain open to innovative ideas from both staff and students to contribute to national development.
