NEAZDP Partners With FUGA, Donates 1,000 Seedlings To Mark World Environment Day

The North-East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP) has donated 1,000 tree seedlings to the Federal University Gashua (FUGA), Yobe State, in commemoration of the 2026 World Environment Day.

The environmental intervention seeks to combat desertification, enhance biodiversity, and promote sustainable green ecosystems within the university community.The seedlings were officially presented during a courtesy visit to the institution's main campus in Gashua.

The NEAZDP delegation, led by Programme Manager Dr. Mulima Idi Mato, handed over the items to the Vice-Chancellor of FUGA, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam.Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Mato emphasized the critical importance of collaborative environmental action, noting that the donation aligns with global efforts to restore degraded lands and build resilience against climate change in arid regions.

Receiving the donation, Professor Geidam expressed appreciation to NEAZDP for the strategic partnership. He assured the delegation that the university would ensure the strategic planting and nurturing of the seedlings to maximize their ecological benefits to the campus.
