It was a day of joy, reflection, and renewed hope as the Pro-Chancellor and Founder of Newgate University Minna, Malam Hassan Nuhu, who also established the Ibiyeye Educational Talent Hunt and Development Initiative, hosted the Award of Scholarship Ceremony for the third batch of Ibiyeye Scholars.

Under this noble initiative, 20 exceptional students from public secondary schools across Niger State were each awarded full scholarships to study any course of their choice at Newgate University — from admission all the way to graduation.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome address by the Committee Chairman, Barrister Umar Adamu Aliyu, who applauded the founder’s vision and commitment to transforming lives through education.
Representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the Director of School Sports, Mr. Koroka, commended the initiative, describing it as a shining example of private-sector partnership in advancing quality education in Niger State.

In his goodwill message, the Vice-Chancellor of Newgate University Minna expressed deep appreciation to the Foundation for its continuous support of educational excellence. He formally received the newly awarded scholars into the Newgate family, assuring them of the university’s dedication to nurturing their academic and personal growth.
In his heartfelt address, Malam Hassan Nuhu shared the inspiring story behind the Foundation, created in memory of Mrs. Ibiyeye, his former teacher, whose act of kindness in helping him pay his WAEC fee many years ago changed the course of his life. He noted that her gesture of compassion continues to inspire his mission to give other young people the same opportunity to dream, learn, and succeed.
The event was not just an award ceremony, but a celebration of kindness, legacy, and the power of education to rewrite destinies.
