Nigerian Law School DG Assesses North-Eastern University Gombe’s Law Faculty, Commends Progress
The Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote, led a delegation from the Nigerian Law School and the Council of Legal Education to North-Eastern University, Gombe on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, to assess the Faculty of Law and its readiness for an increased student admission quota.
The delegation was received by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yusuph Amuda Yahaya and other university officials. They inspected lecture theatres, library resources, moot court facilities, staff offices, and other infrastructure supporting the law programme.
Dr. Odusote commended the university for the progress recorded and urged sustained improvement in infrastructure, staffing, and academic delivery to meet Council of Legal Education standards. The delegation also offered recommendations to strengthen the faculty ahead of a possible quota increase.

The officials later met with Pro-Chancellor and Founder, Dr. Sani Jauro (Danlawan of Gombe), to discuss the future of the Faculty of Law and the university’s commitment to academic excellence.
Dr. Jauro reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continuous development of the Faculty of Law and pledged close collaboration with the Nigerian Law School and Council of Legal Education to maintain the highest standards. He appreciated the regulatory bodies’ guidance and assured the delegation of continued investment in research, mentorship, staff development, learning facilities, and other resources needed for quality legal education and professional growth.
Prof. Yahaya thanked the delegation and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to implementing recommendations and sustaining investment in facilities, staff development, and academic quality.
North-Eastern University, Gombe has secured approvals from the Nigerian Law School and Council of Legal Education to run its law programmes. The institution also recorded over 94 per cent in the National Universities Commission accreditation for both the LL.B. Common Law and LL.B. Sharia and Common Law programmes.
The university is currently training its pioneer set of law students and remains committed to maintaining high standards through continuous investment in academic facilities, qualified personnel, research, and student development.
