The Mass Communication Department of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has commenced the publication of students’ training newspaper and magazine.

The Mass Communication Department of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN),  has commenced the publication of students’ training newspaper and magazine, Myschoolnews gathered.

The newspaper and magazine are named NOUNSCOPE and NOUNDIGEST respectively.

According to the Head of department, Dr. Lateef Adelakun, the project is to enable the students practicalise and put a balance to what they have been taught theoretically.

Adelakun said the practical  participation in these publications are compulsory for those offering MAC312 –Newspaper Production and MAC421: Advanced Newspaper/Magazine Production.

The two courses are now “non-examinable” hence students will be graded based on their practical participation”, he added.

The Head of the department also implore all students  to participate  in the process of gathering materials, including sourcing for advertisements for the publications adding that students are to submit a minimum of a full-page Write-up, well written and punctuated.
