NSUK: NANS Exonerates VC Prof Sa’adatu Hassan Liman Over Inconclusive SUG Election

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has absolved the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, of any wrongdoing in the controversial Student Union Government (SUG) elections held on Wednesday. The elections were reportedly disrupted by irregularities in two faculties.

Comrade Imrana Yusuf, NANS Secretary in Nasarawa State, made this known on Thursday. He acknowledged the issues in the election, particularly in the Faculties of Arts and Education, but urged students to remain calm. He revealed that the university’s management, under Professor Sa’adatu's leadership, had initiated measures to resolve the situation, including an agreement with the aspirants to form a committee that would investigate the matter.

Yusuf expressed disappointment over the tampering of results in the two faculties, despite the efforts made by the university to ensure a transparent and fair election process. He also addressed the protests that erupted at the main campus, leading to the intervention of security forces who used teargas to disperse the students. According to Yusuf, the unrest was partly driven by external influences.

She made the announcement during a meeting with the aspirants in the Senate Chamber of the university. The suspension aims to ensure a peaceful resolution and maintain order on campus.
