NUC Conducts Accreditation Visit to UNIDEL’s Faculty of Agriculture
A high-powered team from the National Universities Commission (NUC), led by Professor Mahmood Ibrahim Dangi of Bayero University Kano, visited the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, to assess and accredit the Faculty of Agriculture.
A high-powered team from the National Universities Commission (NUC), led by Professor Mahmood Ibrahim Dangi of Bayero University Kano, visited the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, to assess and accredit the Faculty of Agriculture.
The visit included inspections of the Departments of Crop and Animal Science, Agricultural Economics and Extension, and Family and Consumer Sciences.
The team toured UNIDEL’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the Demonstration Farm and the University Library, noting the quality of equipment and infrastructure available. Professor Dangi, in a courtesy meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Stella Chiemeke, emphasized that the visit was part of a routine peer-review exercise to verify that UNIDEL’s submissions to NUC meet established academic standards. He also assured that areas requiring improvement would be highlighted in the final report.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Patricia Mbah, representing the Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the delegation and underscored UNIDEL’s commitment to meeting NUC standards despite being a relatively young institution. She stressed that the university is dedicated to continual improvement to maintain compliance with national policies and quality benchmarks.
The NUC accreditation team comprised leading academics from across Nigeria: Professor Yusufu L. Idrisa (University of Maiduguri) – Agricultural Economics; Professor Fafiolu Adeboye (Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta) – Animal Science; Professor Ossai (University of Calabar) – Crop Science; Professor James Sabo Luka (University of Jos) – Agricultural Extension; and Professor Anikweze – Family and Consumer Sciences.
UNIDEL officials present included Deans, Heads of Departments, and Directors across relevant faculties and administrative units, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to excellence and compliance with NUC’s accreditation requirements.
