The State Coordinator NYSC Osun State, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim, has today, 31st July paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Osun State, CP PK Alonge.
Mr Agbor, on behalf of the NYSC Director General, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed appreciated the Commissioner for the commitment of the Force towards the Scheme over the years. Speaking on the security of Corps Members, he noted that the Scheme can not do this alone. According to him the visit is aimed at strengthening the collaboration and synergy between the Scheme and the Force and other security agencies.
He further applauded the CP for constantly deploying his men to the Camp premises and remarked that they have been highly cooperative.
Agbor also stressed that security is a collective effort and therefore requested that access code of the Force be made available to Corps Members through their Local Government Inspectors. This, he believed would increase the level of security in the State.
Responding, the CP Alonge expressed his delight with the visit. He noted that he and the Force management team had at some point also gone through the Scheme. According to him, "those were glorious days".
Speaking further, he said that the Police is just as accountable for the Corps Members as the NYSC Scheme is, hence their security is a primary responsibility. He then reassured the State Coordinator of his commitment to obliging the request of the Force.
Adding, he requested that the Police be constantly updated with camp activities and happenings. He also counselled that Corps Members on getting to their PPA familiarize themselves with the Police division closest to them. He remarked that though the State is relatively peaceful Corps Members should be security conscious.
Agbor presented some NYSC publications to the CP in a bid to strengthen the synergy between both bodies, the State Coordinator was similarly gifted a plaque after which the management joined in group photographs.
