The arrest marked the culmination of a decade-long pursuit to apprehend the suspect, identified as Kabiru Musa, known by his alias "Dawa." Channels TV reported the statement of the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State, Auwal Muhammad, who recounted the events that transpired on April 18th, 2011. He stated, "Between 12:30 and 1:00 pm, a group of youth led by one Kabiru Musa, alias Dawa, stormed the Giade Divisional Police Headquarters following the announcement of the 2011 Presidential Election result." Armed with dangerous weapons including knives, cutlasses, sticks, and petrol, they launched a vicious attack.
