OGITECH and NELFUND Partner to Sensitize Ogun State Tertiary Institutions on New Student Loan Initiative
The Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa (OGITECH) in collaboration with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) on Tuesday, 20th January, 2026, organised a sensitization programme for public tertiary institutions in Ogun State at the Prince Dapo Abiodun Twin Lecture Theatre.
The Rector of OGITECH, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's initiative to ease the financial burden on Nigerian students, noting that the programme would provide monthly stipends to students of tertiary institutions.
Dr. Oluseye also appreciated the efforts of the Chairman of OGITECH Governing Council, Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja, and his friend, Otunba Femi Adewunmi, for ensuring that students in Ogun State benefit from the fund.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyer, said that the loan, whose repayment will not begin until the beneficiary has graduated and secured employment, is interest-free. He explained that while efforts are ongoing to allow students access the fund immediately they are admitted, those yet to matriculate can apply for the fund with their JAMB registration numbers in the meantime.
Several dignitaries, including traditional rulers, commended President Tinubu's initiative, describing it as a game-changer for Nigerian students. The programme was attended by representatives of various tertiary institutions in Ogun State.
To close the programme officially, the Acting Registrar of OGITECH, Mrs. Sakirat Olajumoke Johnson, presented the vote of thanks on behalf of the OGITECH community.
